Privacy policy

Demande au Québec is published by ITAG, 350, rue de Louvain Ouest, Montréal (Québec) H2N 2E8. The person responsible for the protection of personal information is William Momo, at info@itag-ca.com.
The questions you ask the search engine. We keep the text of the question, the category detected by the engine, and the date and time, without your IP address in this database. If a question needs an answer generated by artificial intelligence, the answer is also kept in memory (cache) to answer the same question faster. Do not include personal information (name, address, social insurance number, email, health condition) in your questions. Questions asked by visitors (with no link to their identity) may be shown as search suggestions to other visitors.
Server logs. Our host and our server record, for each page requested, your IP address, the date, your browser type and the address of the page requested. Because a search goes through the page address ("recherche.php?q=…"), the text of your question appears there together with your IP address. These logs are archived on our hosting account and are not automatically deleted at this time; we delete them on request.
A fingerprint of your IP address (the result of a hashing calculation; the address itself is not kept) to limit how many AI-generated answers each visitor can get per hour (abuse protection and cost control). A fingerprint is still personal information: it is deleted automatically after 24 hours.
Your email address or a browser notification subscription, only if you provide them: through the notification form, or by requesting your "voter kit" (which also signs your address up for election-night notices; the kit email reminds you). Every email contains a link to unsubscribe. Each email sent is also recorded (address, subject, date, delivery status) in ITAG's email-sending log; for the voter kit, the subject includes the name of the riding you chose. This log is not automatically deleted at this time; we delete it on request.
Fonts. Fonts are hosted on our own server: no font is loaded from Google or any other third party, and your IP address is not sent to them for that purpose.
Display settings. If you use the "Display" button (light or dark theme, text size, animations), your choice is saved in your browser only (local storage, no cookie); it is never sent to our servers.
Audience measurement (Microsoft Clarity), only if you accept it. On your first visit, the site asks whether you accept Microsoft Clarity. Without your consent, Clarity is not loaded and receives nothing. If you accept, Clarity records your browsing on our pages (clicks, scrolling, pages viewed, session replay) and sets cookies (_clck, kept 1 year, and _clsk, kept 1 day). Because the text of your question appears in the address of the results page, it may be part of what is recorded. This data is processed by Microsoft in the United States. Your choice is remembered for 12 months in your browser's local storage (it is not a cookie); you can change it at any time: change my choice.
The site itself sets no cookies and uses no accounts, advertising or ad-tracking tools.
To answer your questions; to improve the engine and learn which topics people search for; to limit abuse and control costs; to understand how the site is used (audience measurement); and, if you ask, to send you notices and the voter kit.
- Anthropic (United States), an artificial-intelligence provider, receives the text of your question (up to 300 characters) to prepare some answers, including for a web search run by its tool. According to its public terms, Anthropic does not use this content to train its models and deletes it within about 30 days.
- Brave Software (United States) receives the text of your question (plus the country "Canada" and the language) to run the web search that feeds some answers. Required notice: search powered by Brave.
- O2Switch (France), our host, hosts the site, its database, its backups and the server that sends emails.
- Microsoft (Clarity, United States): see above.
- If you turn on browser notifications: your browser's notification service (Google, Apple or Mozilla) relays the notices.
We do not sell personal information and do not use it for advertising. Your information is therefore processed outside Québec (France and the United States); it is not hosted in Canada.
- Questions (search log) and answer-cost log: 12 months, then automatic deletion.
- Answers kept in memory (cache): 30 days; 6 hours for answers prepared with Brave (only the answer text and its sources are kept, never Brave's raw results).
- IP address fingerprints: 24 hours.
- Email addresses and election-night notification subscriptions: deleted automatically 30 days after the results notice is sent (90 days after sign-up if the notice is never sent), or sooner if you unsubscribe. Any future follow-up will require a new, express sign-up with its duration stated.
- Server logs and email-sending log: see above.
- Clarity data: according to Microsoft's rules.
You can ask for access to your information, correction or deletion, and withdraw your consent, by writing to info@itag-ca.com. We respond within the time limits set by law. Because questions are not linked to your identity, we can only find a question if you give us its exact text and date. You may also contact the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
Some pages link to ITAG tools (labelled "Tool offered by ITAG") or offer share links (Facebook, WhatsApp). Those sites have their own privacy policies; nothing is sent to them unless you click.
We will publish any change to this policy here, with the date. Last updated: October 5, 2026.
